This naturally derived conditioning agent is a water-soluble quaternary ammonium derivative of cluster beans. It gives conditioning properties to shampoo, protecting the hair through the cleansing process, and adds nourishment to our care (conditioner) products. Quaternary ammoniums are widely considered a safe and effective modified ingredient.

The process of making it, includes mixing a natural sulfonic acid called isethionic acid with the fatty acids that naturally occur in coconut oil.
